WNVC is a Falls Church, Virginia-based television station which broadcasts a half-hour news program from Poland Monday through Friday.

The Wiadomosci newscast, produced in Warsaw by Channel 1 of Telewizja Polska SA, is available to television viewers throughout the Washington metropolitan area and beyond thanks to a cooperation agreement between WNVC and Mr. Boguslaw Spanski's Polish Television USA.  The Wiadomosci program is also offered by the Dish Network as part of a 24-hour, satellite-based Polish television and radio package (the Polish Package).

Starting in April 1999, the program is aired LIVE between 1:30 and 2:00 p.m., but in the future the time slot may change.  To keep track of the changes, it's best to subscribe to WNVC's free Developing Images monthly newsletter.

Antenna-equipped television sets receive WNVC on channel 56, but because the signal is weak in some areas, WNVC's programming is also available on cable television.  If you have cable, click here to find out the number of the channel on which you can find WNVC in your area.

News is not the only Poland-related program that WNVC offers.  Once in a while, WNVC presents a Polish feature film in the evening (prime time), with English subtitles.  Moreover, WNVC has been toying with the idea of broadcasting a special program focusing on Central and East European countries in the near future.

Although relations between local Polish community organizations and WNVC are still developing, the television station should be seen as an important, natural ally for all institutions, groups and individuals whose mission is to promote information about Poland and Polish culture in the Washington metropolitan area.
