News from Poland

    TV Polonia, Polish Radio 1 and Polish Radio 3 via the Dish Network -- Straight from Poland 24 hours a day in digital quality, this is definitely the most extensive North American source of television and radio programs from Poland, providing the best audio and video quality, available throughout the United States and Canada.  The 24-hour TV Polonia program includes Wiadomosci and Tele Express newscasts.
  • Tele Express via the Internet -- A popular half-hour news program from Warsaw, offered for free on the Internet by the company which provides TV Polonia and Polish Radio programs to the Dish Network.  Full-quality satellite TV version of Tele Express is available as part of Dish Network's 24-hour "Polish package."
  • TV3 and Oto Polska -- Available on SCOLA Channel One: a half-hour program (TV3) Monday through Friday at 6 p.m. Eastern time, a one-hour program (TV3) on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and a half-hour program (Oto Polska) on Sundays at 5:30 p.m.  All three programs are shown from tape, meaning not live from Poland.  SCOLA programs are available via satellite and on the Internet.
  • Polsat News on the International Channel — This news program, produced by a private television network in Poland, is shown Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m., Eastern time, only on cable television.  It is available wherever the International Channel is part of the local cable TV package, but in Montgomery County, Maryland, the program is not available when Montgomery College academic semesters are in progress.
  • Polish Radio 1 (Jedynka) via the Internet -- utilizing free RealAudio software, broadcast live but with interruptions caused by "Internet congestion."

  • The Siec  --  Exhaustive compilation of news and opinion pieces regarding Poland and Central Europe, sent out usually several times a week.  This influential email publication is edited and administered by Dr. Michael Szporer, a Polish American resident of the Capitol Hill neighborhood, who is a professor at the University of Maryland and serves as the Washington director of the Foundation for Free Speech.
  • Polish American Journal -- A weekly "dedicated to the promotion, preservation and continuance of Polish American culture."  Polish American Journal is published in New York State.
  • Polish News  --  An illustrated monthly, available online and sent out in paper form.  Some articles are in Polish, others in English.  Based in Chicago, with correspondents in other cities.
  • Polonia Today -- Published in Chicago, Polonia Today claims to be "the world's most-read Polish American newsmagazine in the English language with subscribers around the globe."  Polonia Today's Web site features summaries or abbreviated versions of articles which appear in the print edition.
  • Nowy Dziennik  --  Polish language daily newspaper, published in New York City.
  • Voice of America in Polish, produced in Washington, D.C.
