Polish Global Village is an email distribution list for the Polish community in the Washington metropolitan area. As an interactive companion to this website, it regularly reaches more than 1,200 people. All of them are opt-in subscribers and most of them live in Washington, D.C., suburban Maryland or Northern Virginia.
Polish Global Village is an announcement list. It is not a discussion club. Spam messages are filtered out automatically. Only a few volunteers, community leaders and embassy officials are authorized to post messages to Polish Global Village.
Polish Global Village subscribers receive several messages per week. Posts include compilations of hyperlinks to noteworthy Poland-related media articles, gathered by long-time Polonia leader Tadeusz Mirecki, and invitations to
- Polish Global Village Happy Hours,
- receptions,
- lectures,
- book readings,
- concerts,
- theater productions,
- exhibits,
- film screenings,
- picnics,
- trips,
- other social, cultural, artistic or political events
- and organizational meetings.
Polish Global Village subscribers also receive occasional calls to action on issues of importance to the Polish community in Washington and around the world.
Most Polish Global Village list management functions -- such as subscription requests, unsubscription requests or change-of-email-address requests -- are handled automatically on a self-service basis by the Yahoo!
